This expert HCM case study discussion is designed to raise disease awareness and knowledge, as well as provide practical guidance for achieving a differential diagnosis for HCM via real patient cases. It assists secondary healthcare professionals to:

  • distinguish HCM from other phenocopy conditions that may present similar symptoms
  • identify HCM features and evaluate disease status via appropriate strategies

This HCM case study is 30 minutes duration.

By the end of this activity, attendees will be able to:

  • summarize features suggestive of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM)
  • identify HCM phenocopy conditions that might be confused with HCM
  • outline screening and management strategies for asymptomatic patients with HCM
  • explain appropriate screening strategies for family members of patients with HCM
